PensReport.com is the longest-running, independent, locally-based Pittsburgh Penguins news site. Started in 2011 in Pittsburgh, PA the site grew out of social media game coverage on Twitter and expanded to a full web platform within a year. Its staff has included numerous writers who have worked for major online hockey and traditional media outlets like Rotowire, Vox, Pensblog, Pens Initiative, the Wheeling Intelligencer, and more.
In its decade-plus of operation, Pens Report has provided live on-site coverage of numerous major hockey events like the 2011 Winter Classic, the 2012 NHL Draft, the World Cup of Hockey, and the 2016 and 2017 Stanley Cup Finals. The site's staff has held credentials for multiple Pittsburgh Penguins events and season-long access to the team's organizational affiliates.
