EVGENI MALKIN PLAYS HIS 1,000TH NHL GAME TONIGHT!

If you're one of the lucky ones who have been here for every single one, just like with Sidney Crosby, it's been an incredible ride. So tonight is a remarkable milestone for a titan of the game and an icon of Pittsburgh sports. It's been 17 seasons, three Stanley Cups, and 1,000 games of "I Am Score" and we still can't get enough. Here's to hoping there is still more history to be made in his career yet and a big congrats to "Geno".

The Penguins meanwhile have a game to focus on too. It's a biggie: if they win over Chicago tonight they'll finally have a winning streak longer than a brief two games for the first time this season. That's an important goal as they stare down the quarter mark of the 2022-23 schedule next game. The 20-game point is generally known as the "get it together or get ready to miss the playoffs" time. The Pens must put all the puzzle pieces in place right now or they may lose their chance to right the ship this season.

Penguins Update:

Tristan Jarry recorded his first shutout of the season last night against Winnipeg. It was an impressive, bounce-back performance after his recent struggles and he looked like his old All-Star self again. Perhaps injury whispers were true?

The Penguins are not just trying for their first three-game win streak of the season, but are also looking to sweep their first road trip of the year, 3-0, with a win vs. Chicago after victories in Minnesota and Winnipeg.

Both teams are coming in on even footing rest-wise for this game, as the Blackhawks also played last night. They got trounced 6-1 by the Bruins so they're entering this one on a low note and will be trying to rebound.

-Injury Report-

(None)

-Pens Lines-

The projected Penguins lines for Sunday, November 20, 2022, vs. the Chicago Blackhawks:

(Forwards)

Jake Guentzel - Sidney Crosby - Rickard Rakell

Ryan Poehling - Teddy Blueger - Josh Archibald

(Defense)

P. O. Joseph - Jeff Petry

Blackhawks Update:

Former Penguin turned Blackhawk Marian Hossa's jersey will be retired by Chicago before tonight's game. It's sort of a dual milestone night for the Pens in that.

Fellow ex-Pens Jack Johnson and Jarred Tinordi feature prominently on the Blackhawks' blueline due to injuries, which is good news for Pittsburgh if you remember how poorly they played here.

-Offseason Update-

Key players added: Fowards- Andreas Athanasiou, Colin Blackwell, Max Domi. Defenseman- Jack Johnson.

Key players lost: Fowards- Alex Debrincat, Kirby Dach, Dominik Kubalik, Dylan Strome. Defensemen- Calvin De Haan, D Erik Gustafsson. Goalie- Kevin Lankinen.

-Injury Report-

-Seth Jones (D): IR, thumb, day-to-day.

-Tyler Johnson (C): IR, ankle, week-to-week.

-Alex Stalock (G): IR, concussion, out indefinitely.

For The Penguins: Jason Zucker. After sitting one game off of the scoresheet, Zuck got back on the board in Winnipeg with a goal. He now has seven points in the last six games including a triple-assist outing vs. Montreal.

For The Blackhawks: Max Domi. One of the Blackhawks' few big summer signings, Domi is also one of the few 'Hawks with any significant performance streaks right now. He's tallied five points in the last five games, all coming via assists. Look for Chicago to off-load him at the deadline to a contender who needs a useful complimentary contributing piece. That team may even be the Pens themselves who could use more solid depth in the middle six.
