PENS GAME #11: PENGUINS AT ISLANDERS
After their 1st loss in 4 games at the hands of the Islanders, the Penguins have a chance to get immediate retribution on the follow-up "home and home" game at the Isles' barn in New York. The 6-3 loss was a rough wake-up for the Pens, but the game was closer than the final score exhibited. But for the lack of Letang and Brassard, and a pesky off-sides goal call in NY's favor, the night likely would have looked very different. The Pens now get their shot to make that "what if" a reality in a redo on the road where they're undefeated in regulation this season at 4-0-1. Pittsburgh Penguins (6-2-2) vs. New York Islanders (6-4-1) at Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, NY at 7PM (EST) Tonight's game will have a significantly different look than the one just 2 days ago. Both sides will see key player changes that are sure to affect the game. Kris Letang is a possibility to play for the Penguins. While the Islanders will have to rely on their back-up goalie former Pen Thomas Greiss, after starter Robin Lehner left Tuesday's game with a muscle strain. The Pens are still 1st in the Metro despite their loss last game, but with their win the Islanders have moved into 2nd place in the Division. They're nipping at the Penguins' heels. Getting another victory over a direct divisional competitor is a key priority for the Pens, as they move in the second month of the season and need to keep divisional play a focus, for their overall big picture playoff goals. Even in November, building towards the playoff picture is always in the back of their minds. (They're the Pens, post-season is kind of their thing.) To the details we go!...

PENS P.S. EXTRA MISC. THOUGHTS & INFO *Evgeni Malkin was named the NHL's 2nd Star Of The Month For October. *Malkin remains on a multi-month tear. He's earned a "3 Star Of The Month" honors 3 of the last 4 months going back into last season. Malkin is also tied with Connor McDavid for the most points scored by any NHL player since January 1st, 2018. McDavid is 21, Malkin managing to match his best at age 32. Wow. *The Athletic has an update on ex-Pen (and my personal all-time favorite player) Jarome Iginla and his life after hockey for their subscribers. (Sorry, that it's behind a paywall.) He's set down his roots in the hockey hotbed of Boston post-career. *The WBS Penguins next game is tomorrow Friday, November 2 vs. the Hartford Wolf Pack.
