PENS GAME #24: PENGUINS AT AVALANCHE
The "Battle Of The Nova Scotia Boys" commences tonight as the Penguins and Sidney Crosby take on the Avalanche and Nathan MacKinnon for the first time this season.
Pittsburgh Penguins (10-8-5) at Colorado Avalanche (14-6-4) at Pepsi Center in Denver, CO at 9:30PM (EST)
These are two hot teams that are set to collide in what is has to be one of the league's most exciting match-ups this week.
Coming into tonight's game the Pens have won their last 2 and have point in their last 5 games, while the Avs have won their last 5 and scored points in their last 8 games. Both racked up victories last night and are now set to clash on the second half of back-to-back series for each.
The Penguins have finally won 2 games in a row for the first time in over a month and 3 of their last 4. They've put 8 goals in those last 2 games. And they continue to get scoring from all over their roster, which is one of the most important breakthroughs the team has made this season.
Colorado are another difficult team to face at a time when the Pens are aiming to continue gathering momentum, however. They sit 2nd best in the Western Conference and 2nd in their division. The Avs' also have the NHL's top two scorers in Nate MacKinnon and the leader Mikko Rantanen.
The Pens will have to put up another scrappy and total team performance to topple the one of the West's best in the Avalanche.
Here are the game details...
